LEDs in the News: University of Alabama Debuts New Stadium LED Lights

Football under the lights has taken on a whole new meaning as leading collegiate football programs upgrade their stadiums to use LED lights. The University of Alabama installed LED lights in Bryant-Denny Stadium this past off-season and introduced the new lights to fans via social media.

The University finally debuted the lights to fans in a Saturday night game against Tennessee known as the “Third Saturday in October.”

The new lights will improve game visibility and offer innovate light shows to create an even more engaging and over-the-top spectator experience. This weekend, pre-game introductions got an extra boost as a light show accompanied “Sweet Home Alabama,” and they continued to dazzle fans during breaks.

Notably, the stadium will be brighter for spectators at the game and watching on TV while energy consumption will be drastically slashed. The University of Alabama expects to double their light level while cutting energy consumption in half.
